Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk was forced to go to court today in an attempt to get his private jet back from an aviation company that was holding it over an unpaid debt.

According to court documents, Flightpath Charter Airways has claimed that it is owed $693,524 for the operation, maintenance and storage of the Bombardier Challenger 604 belonging to Melnyk.

“Flightpath commenced an application to sell Mr. Melnyk’s aircraft with the intent to pay off creditors who have not been paid,” said Flightpath’s lawyer, HeatherDevine, according to the CBC.

“For months, [Melnyk] flew the aircraft, incurred third party expenses, and demanded that [Flightpath] manage and operate the aircraft but failed to pay for insurance, NAV Canada, fuel, pilots, pilot training, maintenance, storage and repair expenditures without explanation, and without justification,” said court documents filed by Flightpath.

Melnyk’s representation claim that the amounts owing presented by Flightpath are “incorrect and inflated.” The unpaid amount has been seized by the court until a judge can provide a ruling on the final amount owed.

Meanwhile, a Connecticut casino is also suing Melnuk for over $900,000 in… you guessed it… unpaid bills.

The Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn. filed a lawsuit against Melnyk, claiming he tried and failed to pay his debt with five bank drafts over a winter weekend in 2017.
