Serious concern for Leafs’ Matthew Knies in Game 6!

Toronto needs to stay alive, but I’m not sure how alive Knies is feeling. More below:

After missing his last shift of the first period of Game 6, Toronto Maple Leafs star forward Matthew Knies has fans worried. While he did return for the start of the second frame, he missed several shifts and was replaced on more than one occasion by Bobby McMann on the top line.

In the middle of the period however, when the Maple Leafs went on the power-play thanks to too many men for the Florida Panthers, Knies was out on the first unit of the man advantage.

At the end of the first frame, Knies was rocked by a hit from Panthers defenseman Niko Mikkola. He laboured on the way to the Maple Leafs’ bench and was even seen on the bench telling a trainer that he could not not even move it. The Sportsnet's panel reported on the possible injury during the first intermission and wondered how Knies would be able to stay into Game 6.

And let's not get started on other upcoming games if Toronto manages to win tonight and force a Game 7 back home.

With less than four minutes to go in the second period, the Maple Leafs got another power-play opportunity, however Knies remains at the bench, in visible discomfort. He was replaced by veteran forward Max Pacioretty on the top unit.

Knies has recorded five goals, tied for second place on the team tied with John Tavares and behind William Nylander, who has six tallies.

The young Knies did take part in his last shift of the second period, as the game remains tied at 0.

The Panthers lead the series 3-2 and can reach the Eastern Conference Final for the third consecutive season with a win.
