UPDATE: It's official, Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point is OUT for Team Canada at the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics and will be replaced by Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis.

There were earlier reports that Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard would replace Point, but Jarvis gets the nod instead.

Jarvis confirmed to reporters tonight that he received a call from Hockey Canada today while he was having his pre-game nap ahead of tonight's game against the New Jersey Devils.

In that interview a clearly emotional Jarvis explained just how important being a part of Team Canada is to him:

It's starting to look like Connor Bedard will in fact be on Team Canada's roster at the 2026 Winter Olympics next week.

Team Canada, of course, replaced injured forward Anthony Cirelli with Sam Bennett earlier this week and there are reports today that the team will name Bedard in place of injured forward Brayden Point.

It's worth noting though that the team officially has until Wednesday to make any roster replacements but they are traveling to Italy on Saturday so it's expected that they will make the necessary roster changes before traveling together.

Today, Tampa Bay Lightning head coach and Team Canada coach Jon Cooper told media today that he can't make any announcements on Point because "that decision's being made today so I can’t answer that."

Stay tuned for official confirmation on Point's status.

All indications are that if Point is indeed out of the lineup, Bedard will replace him. Of course, that's not confirmed and only speculation so don't be surprised if one of Seth Jarvis, Zach Hyman, Mark Scheifele or Steven Stamkos get the call up instead.
