First and foremost many people have attempted to take the comments made by Columbus Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella into some kind of race issue, and we don't believe for one second that's accurate. When you take the time to appreciate the context that Tortorella specifically cited the disrespect to the American flag as his issue, and has a son in the military who fights for that flag, we believe it's very hard to make that argument.

With that said many were curious to hear what the only black player on his team had to say about it and when Seth Jones was a guest on Sportsnet's the Fan 590 this week he was asked about the comments from his coach. If you were expecting outrage from Jones you've come to the wrong place.

"I think it's, obviously it's fair," said Jones. "That's obviously his way of doing it. Obviously they're comparing it to the whole Colin Kaepernick thing, but, you know, he's got a right to believe whatever he wants. Obviously, I have no problem. You're not going to see anything from any of us with Torts, so I think I have no problem with that. I'm sure none of the guys do either."

The best part of Jones' response of course was the fact that he never felt the need to bring up the topic of race, something that of course Tortorella also never mentioned during his comments. It doesn't sound like there will be many issues from his players when it comes to John Tortorella's controversial stance on the anthem.
