Several more teams enter the Jimmy Vesey sweepstakes.

There are suddenly a huge number of teams reportedly in the mix for free agent forward Jimmy Vesey, and all of them are expected to meet with the young forward sometime this week.

While the teams rumored to be the frontrunners remain the same and the most likely there is significant new information regarding the sheer number of teams involved. According to multiple reports the Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets and the New York Islanders have all entered the Vesey sweepstakes providing the Hobey Baker winner with a number of additional options.

Most notably among these is the Islanders, according to reports earlier today Vesey rejected an offer from the Red Wings because he desired closer proximity to his home in Boston. New York would certainly fit that description, seemingly putting them in the mix, while the other two teams are likely long-shots.
