In case you missed it last night, the Buffalo Sabres absolutely DUNKED on the Detroit Red Wings, tearing them wide open for an 8-3 blowout victory.

It's been a long road for Sabres fans back to respectability, so you can't blame them for going a little overboard when celebrating a big win. But... well... this might be a bit much.

A Sabres fan threw a dildo sex toy on the ice last night, causing Sabres blueliner and former #1 overall pick Rasmus Dahlin to whack it away with his hockey stick.

Check it out:

That's definitely one way to celebrate a big win! No shame over here.

In all seriousness though, the Sabres are sitting pretty with a 6-3-0 record to start the season and are officially 2nd place in the NHL. Now, I suspect that they'll keep up that pace all season long, but I think there's a real change that they can finally, mercifully play themselves into the playoff picture. The NHL's Atlantic Division will be competitive with the Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs all jockeying for position at the top, but don't be surprised if the Sabres can work themselves into a Wild Card spot or if they bump one of those perennial playoff teams from the top three.

Personally, as someone who has been hoping for the Sabres to pull it around for YEARS now, I think this team has a completely different personality these days. Obviously Jack Eichel is long gone and, as a result, there's a new vibe surrounding this team. There's no superstar on this team anymore, but with a great supporting cast up front and on the blueline, I think this team can make some noise. Dahlin is a supreme talent who is finally beginning to break out, Owen Power is a bright shining star and forwards like Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch and Jeff Skinner are all taking turns filling the net. Add in 41 year old Craig Anderson in goal and his remarkable 1.61 goals against average and you've got a team that looks pretty solid from top to bottom. Are the Sabres for real? We're about to find out.
