Another bad sign from Wright?

It has only been a few short days since he has officially entered the National Hockey League, but Shane Wright is already quickly making headlines around the league.

It all began on draft day of course when Wright, a largely consensus #1 overall pick in the months leading up, dropped all the way down to #4 where he would be selected by the Seattle Kraken. Following the pick Wright would give what appeared to be a rather harsh glare to someone off stage, with many speculating that the target of that stare had been those seated at the Canadiens draft table.

Some viewed the staredown as a positive, seeing it as a sign of the competitive fire required to be a top level athlete in any discipline, while others viewed it as a negative, seeing it as a sign of immaturity on the part of the young forward. Both interpretations are relatively fair, but this latest bit of news may color how many initially viewed the incident at the draft.

Over the weekend several users began to post screenshots of what is alleged to be Wright's social media activity following the draft, activity where an account using the user name "shane_wright51" was spotted liking posts disparaging the player who would go first overall in Juraj Slafkovsky. That username does appear to match Wright's, however these kinds of photos can easily be edited.

What does make the whole thing somewhat more convincing is that these seem to be coming from several different sources. First, a user by the name of "Goatman1412" published the following screen captures on Reddit:

The like under the post comparing Slafkovsky to Nail Yakupov is perhaps the most damning here.

A twitter user identifying himself as "Jason" published a screenshot of his own in which Wright appeared to like a post pointing to a date on December 6th. That just so happens to be a date on which the Montreal Canadiens and the Seattle Kraken will go head to head.

Making this all the more intriguing? Both the comment chain published by "Goatman1412", which has since been deleted, and the post published by "Jason" appear to be reacting to content originating from the same Instagram account.

If this is indeed Shane Wright, and to be clear that has not been officially confirmed, it could be one more sign of what may have caused him to drop in the the eyes of several teams at the NHL draft.
