A tough break for the youngster.

Shane Wright has not had the start to the season he would have hoped for, especially when you consider that he was once projected to go first overall, and unfortunately it seems that has now cost him.

According to a report from Kate Shefte of the Seattle Times, it appears as though Wright has been somewhat snubbed by his own team while he had family members in town to visit. Shefte reports that Wright's grandparents made the trip to Seattle and were there during the weekend and the Kraken's 3 game homestand, but unfortunately Wright never got into the lineup for any of those games and therefore his grandparents will not get the chance to watch him play live.

That has to be quite the blow for the 18 year old forward, especially when you consider the fact that he has no doubt already been hard on himself after picking up just 1 point, an assist, over his first 5 career games in the National Hockey League.

When Wright was passed over by multiple teams at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft he admitted that it would add fuel to the fire in terms of his motivation, and one can only hope that this rather unfortunate scenario will serve a similar purpose for Wright in the long run.

The Kraken are making one change this evening, taking Ryan Donato out of the lineup which in theory could have left room open for Wright to get in. Unfortunately for Wright however it will be veteran centerman Karson Kuhlman who will be stepping in for Donato tonight instead.
