A humorous attempt at a joke goes horribly wrong.
In the world of professional sports few things are more endearing to a young fan than a goofy and funny mascot. Children however can be unpredictable at times and that can lead to some rather unexpected moments.
On Saturday night, San Jose Sharks mascot 'Sharkie' learned that lesson the hard way when his harmless attempt at a joke left a child in a state of complete panic, at least briefly.
In the video that has quickly amassed hundreds of thousands of views, we can hear parents encouraging their child to meet Sharkie, something that she seems more than willing to do. After an adorable hug between the young fan and her team's mascot, Sharkie would playfully motion as if he was moving to bite the child's head.
Unfortunately the young child didn't get the joke and it sent her into a state of panic that had her running away from the Sharks mascot and straight back to her family.
The whole thing made for an amusing scene, but I can't help but feel sorry for the young fan who had a special moment turn into an unfortunate memory. Thankfully the video ends with Sharkie and the family taking a group photo, although I can't help but notice Sharkie is keeping a safe distance.
