The San Jose Sharks have announced that they've signed SHL superstar Max Veronneau to a one year contract for the 2022-23 season.
The 26 year old Veronneau led the Swedish Hockey League in goals (34) and was ranked second with 60 points in 51 games. He's a native of Ottawa, Ontario and did actually sign with his hometown Ottawa Senators back in 2018 before heading overseas to Sweden. He put up just four points in 16 NHL games with Ottawa over the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.
"Max had a great season this year in Europe, leading the Swedish Hockey League in goals and being named the SHL's Most Valuable Player," said Shin Larsson, Sharks Supervisor of European Scouting. "He has produced at every level offensively and previously was an ECAC Champion with Princeton. We look forward to him joining our organization."
While the Sharks didn't clarify if the deal was for the balance of this season or for next season, Sharks insider Curtis Pashelka has confirmed that the deal is indeed for next season.
