Sheldon Keefe butts heads with Steve Simmons in post game press conference.

He did not like the question.

There is going to be a ton of fallout in Toronto after Game 4 of the Toronto Maple Leafs' opening round series in the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Leafs were thoroughly dominated by the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning, in that game and would eventually lose by the lopsided margin of 7 - 3, but somehow things managed to get even worse for Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe during his post game press conference.

As you would expect the post game press conference after a beatdown of this nature was not a pleasant experience for Keefe to begin with, but it was made that much worse when controversial Toronto journalist Steve Simmons decided to ask Keefe a rather blunt question. Simmons flat out called out Keefe for making the decision to start defenseman Justin Holl on Sunday night, a decision that would result in the Lightning getting a big goal courtesy of their captain, Steven Stamkos, just one minute into the game.

The idea behind the question may have been a good one, but the way it was phrased by Simmons noticeably annoyed the Leafs bench boss.

"Sheldon, why would you start your worst defenseman in a building you knew was going to be this loud?" asked Simmons following Game 4.

Keefe feigned ignorance when asked the question and simply challenged Simmons to name the team's worst defenseman.

"Who is our worst defenseman?" asked Keefe in response.

Simmons of course didn't miss a beat.

"Justin Holl" answered Simmons matter of factly.

Keefe though wasn't at all amused by Simmons choosing to label one of his players in such a manner and he simply rolled his eyes at the controversial journalist and dismissed him outright. After Simmons directly called Holl the worst defenseman on the Leafs' roster, Keefe once again dismissed his question outright by indicating that he did not agree with Simmons' assessment of his players.

"That's your opinion I guess," said a noticeably annoyed Keefe.

This now puts Keefe in a rather unenviable position, considering he may want to swap Holl out of the lineup but will now have to do so with this question from Simmons lingering in the air.
