The Toronto Maple Leafs have confirmed some bad news.

It was obvious that something was up during the team's morning skate on Saturday morning when Maple Leafs forward Max Domi was spotted centering fellow Leafs forwards William Nylander and Tyler Bertuzzi, a position that is normally occupied by the team's captain John Tavares.

Head coach Sheldon Keefe has now confirmed that Tavares has been sidelined with an injury, although the good news here appears to be that it is a relatively minor one.

According to Keefe, Tavares will be out on a day to day basis as he nurses what Keefe reiterated was only a minor injury. That means that Tavares will be out of the lineup tonight when the Maple Leafs face off against the Anaheim Ducks and could miss more games moving forward, although Keefe made the latter seem unlikely.

"It’s pretty minor," said Keefe. "Just not available today."
