Sheldon Keefe, Jim Montgomery spar over Domi/Swayman incident

War of the words is on!

There was plenty of physicality between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins during Wednesday night's Game 3 of their Round 1 Stanley Cup Playoff series, but there was one notable incident that took place during the 2nd period that had just about everyone talking.

During a television timeout, Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman was making his way toward the player bench. And skating not-so-accidentally into him was Leafs pest Max Domi, the son of beloved former Leafs enforcer Tie Domi. While the physical contact between the two wasn't much, it was enough to catch Swayman off balance:

Bruins veteran forward Pat Maroon immediately tried to come to his teammates aid by attempting to confront Domi, but was held back by the officials, to whom he gave a frank piece of his mind over the fact that no penalty was called.

While meeting with media members the following day, Montgomery suggested that the incident was Domi not only trying to get Swayman off his game, but a clear sign that the goaltender is occupying the minds of Toronto players.

"Sometimes, I don’t think that, but when Domi goes off the bench and bumps him on purpose, it makes me think that maybe he is in their head a little bit," Montgomery said.

And it wouldn't be long before Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe responded to Montgomery.

"With that logic you would say every time they bump into one of our guys maybe we’re in their heads," Keefe said in response. "I don’t think that has anything to do with anything."

"I sense zero frustration," he added.

It would be completely understandable if there was frustration on the part of Toronto facing Swayman, however. He's been tabbed Boston's starter in Game 1 and 3, winning them both while posting a 1.51 goals against average and impressive .955 save percentage.

Montgomery hasn't officially named a starter for tomorrow's Game 4, but logic would indicate that they'll decide to stick with Swayman considering his success in the series so far.
