Sheldon Keefe still unsure about Leafs' strategy ahead of Game 3

So far, things have not gone according to plan for the Toronto Maple Leafs in their Round 2 series against the upstart Florida Panthers, who have stayed red-hot and taken Games 1 and 2 from Toronto on their home ice. This comes on the heels of their having stunned the world by defeating the 65-win Boston Bruins in Round 1, proving that they're for real.

But as if trailing two games to none wasn't bad enough, the Leafs will be without a critical component of their lineup for at least the next two games, and perhaps even longer. Rookie forward Matthew Knies was injured after he was driven into the boards and then tackled to the ice by Panthers forward Sam Bennett, and didn't return to last night's contest. And according to head coach Sheldon Keefe, Knies was concussed due to the incident, and he's not optimistic about his return any time soon.

As the series shifts to the Sunshine State, the Leafs are toying with different roster options to make up for the loss of Knies. According to Sportsnet's Luke Fox:

"Sheldon Keefe says 11-and-7 is an option for Game 3 and something the coaching staff considers going into every game in these playoffs."

Keefe also had this to say

"Matt has proven to improve the depth of our team. We believe we are a better team when he is in. All of that said, we were a very good team before he arrived on the scene here."

"We will make some adjustments accordingly, but we have full confidence in our group."
