Sidney Crosby plotting to team up with Connor McDavid?
Wouldn't it be great to see them both on the same line?

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby showing no signs of slowing down despite having lost the nickname "Sid the Kid" long ago, racking up 93 points in all 82 games played this season. He's turned 36 years of age this fall, and despite the acquisition of Norris Trophy winning defenseman Erik Karlsson, is it conceivable that he could ask to be moved in order for one more shot at a championship should the Penguins continue their expected downward slant?
While that isn't likely, Crosby has stated that he'd love to be able to suit up with Edmonton Oilers superstar captain Connor McDavid - albeit on the international stage.
"I'll go there," Crosby said on Sportsnet's "32 Thoughts" podcast of playing with McDavid on Team Canada. "I'll play my off-wing, no worries. Listen, I've skated with him and I've played both, so I think I'm good either way with playing center or wing, whatever he wants to do. He can carry the mail. I'll just find the opening."
Crosby captained Canada to gold in the 2010 Vancouver games(scoring the tournament-winning "golden goal" in the process) and the 2014 Sochi games. Right now, the NHL is reportedly hoping to host a World Cup tournament in 2025 followed by a return to the Olympics the following year; NHL players were excluded from participating in the recent Beijing Olympics.
But does Crosby believe that Canada would be the automatic favorite with McDavid on his wing or vice versa?
"Seeing all the other countries, you look at their lineups. I mean, it's pretty tight," Crosby said. "I mean, there's no real favored team. It's easy to say Canada because we've had success at Olympics and that sort of thing. But, I mean, the hockey is incredible. And from my experience, it doesn't really get any better than that, when you're looking at the lineups and you're looking to players that are assembled."
