Team Canada suffered a devastating loss to Team USA on Sunday in the Gold Medal game for the Men's Hockey Tournament at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. It was a game that Canadian superstar Sidney Crosby was forced to watch from the sidelines due to injury, but in spite of that Crosby remained present throughout the game itself and even came out onto the ice to congratulate his opponents on their victory following the conclusion of the game.

After the medals were handed out, Crosby spoke to the media about the challenging experience of watching from the sidelines and he admitted that fans may have it harder than the players.

"Yeah it's tough," said Crosby of the loss on Sunday. "It's a lot easier playing than watching."

In spite of the loss Crosby's focus remained on the positive with the captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins gushing about the performance from his team on Sunday.

"I think everyone should be proud of the way the team performed, I thought we did everything but score in every facet," said Crosby. "We were so good today, I thought we deserved better but unfortunately we didn't come away with a win."

Crosby was forced to the sidelines due to injury but admitted that he was nearly healthy enough for today's game.

"Pretty close," admitted Crosby. "Ultimately I wasn't able to go out there and do what I needed to do in order to help the team. At that point you gotta make a decision that's best for the group, not an easy one but that's hockey."

Crosby once again went out of his way to praise the performance of the Canadian men who did play in today's game, many of whom were emotionally distraught following the loss on Sunday.

"I thought the way we played all tournament we were really good and we were tested in some of those games," said Crosby. "It's not easy to get to this point and we just found ways and I thought one of our best games was probably today. Unfortunately it doesn't work out for us but I'm just really proud of the group and the way we competed and the way we played."

A great show of clas from Crosby, exactly what you would expect from the Canadian superstar.
