Late on Tuesday night, insider Frank Seravalli dropped a bombshell, reporting that the New York Rangers were in “advanced discussions” with Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek on a trade that would send veteran forward Chris Kreider to Anaheim. It was however confirmed by insider Pierre LeBrun that the Ducks are on Kreider’s list of no-trade teams, but that the Rangers were still trying to make the deal work.

Now, Rangers insider Larry Brooks of the New York Post reports that Kreider is in fact seriously considering the move despite having Anaheim on his 15-team no trade list.

“I have been told that Drury and Kreider’s camp have been in constant comunnication through the off-season so I would be surprised if a no-trade list becomes an issue.”

Brooks also added: “I’m told that Kreider’s camp had informed Drury he would be amenable to going to Anaheim before negotiations began.

After being informed last night of the prospective deal, Kreider is now processing it all and going through his due diligence before he signs off on it.

There is no separation here between Kreider and NYR.”

Kreider has two more seasons left on a contract that pays him $6.5 million annually. When the report first surfaced, it was believed that the Blue Shirts were looking to move Kreider’s entire contract, and get him completely off their cap.

Kreider’s former Rangers teammate, captain in fact, Jacob Trouba is of course a member of the Ducks. Kreider was very outspoken in the wake of Trouba’s trade to the Ducks this past season and the pair are known to be close on the ice and off the ice.

The final deal could be done shortly, however, insider Elliotte Friedman does not expect a deal to come through on Wednesday night as Kreider continues to mull over his decision.
