Smith delivers a brutal crosscheck to the head of Andrew Shaw.

Montreal Canadiens forward Andrew Shaw deserves a ton of credit for staying in the game after taking this cheap shot from New York Rangers Brendan Smith. 

During a battle in front of the net Smith delivered a brutal crosscheck directly to the head and neck area of Shaw, sending him down to the ice in a heap, clutching his head in pain.

Unfortunately for both Shaw and the Canadiens, the National Hockey League officials on the ice either missed the play or ignored the shot because of Shaw's reputation as a gritty player in his own right. 

Nonetheless this was ugly stuff from Smith.
