Smith has strong parting words for his former team

After six seasons in the Arizona desert, it sounds like goaltender Mike Smith is happy to move on and become a member of the Calgary Flames. Acquired yesterday in a huge trade that saw goaltender Chad Johnson also change locales, Smith admitted that his time in Arizona was mostly wasted:

Calgary fans, you’re going to love Mike Smith. He’s a straight-shooter and calls things as he sees them. So long as he keeps the puck out of the net, he’ll become a fan favorite in Cowtown.

The 35 year-old goaltender played 55 games for the Coyotes last season and put up a 2.92 GAA and .914 Sv%. Look for those numbers to improve in 2017-18 however, as his new squad in Calgary is twice the team of the one he was forced to prop up in Arizona.
