Sorokin makes a great save while “getting a lap dance”

“And it was free of charge!”

One of the most disappointing things about the New York Islanders' season in 2022-23 is that it appears the team is at risk of  wasting an absolutely dominant season from goaltender Ilya Sorokin.

The 27 year old Russian netminder had a great season in 2021-22, but looks even better this year with a 2.39 goals against average and a .923 save percentage in 54 games. He's been one of the most consistent goaltenders in the NHL this season and will likely garner some Vezina Trophy consideration as the league's best goaltender, but realistically he has zero chance of winning the award if he can't get the Isles into the post-season. Currently the Isles are hanging on to a Wild Card playoff spot and Sorokin is a big part of the reason why.

And it's easy to see why when the guy is making saves while "getting a lap dance, free of charge" as the Islanders' broadcast team of Brendan Burke and Butch Goring point out.

Check it out:

Not bad! There are guys out there paying good money for a lap dance and they're not getting near the league-wide recognition that Sorokin is getting!
