Source leaks Rangers’ asking price for Alexis Lafrenière

The New York Rangers are making it seem like it’s the end for Alexis Lafrenière in the Big Apple. Last night, he was a healthy scratch against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and prior to that, head coach Gerard Gallant had demoted him to the fourth line.

Trade rumours didn’t take long to emerge on social media and admits insiders’ circles, so much so that we know have an idea of what the Rangers will seek in return in a Lafrenière trade.

According to a source who spoke with reporter Ali Murji, the Rangers are looking for a first-round pick and a a top end player in a transaction for the young forward.

I can’t say a lot of potential suitors will be thrilled to hear about GM Chris Drury’s asking price. After all, Lafrenière was indeed the first overall pick in 2020, but he’s struggled since the start of the season, putting up just five goals and 12 assists in 37 games.
