Who's calling the shots here!?!?
According to a report from Ottawa Senators insider Bruce Garrioch, Canadian broadcasting giant Sportsnet has approached the NHL and has requested that the league not schedule Senators playoff games on the same night as Montreal Canadiens games.
The Senators, Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers are, of course, the only Canadian teams to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs and Sportsnet is no doubt trying to ensure the maximum amount of viewers to their platform per game.
What we DO know is that the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin on Saturday evening. We also know that the Habs play their final regular season game tonight and the Sens play their final regular season game tomorrow. I don't want to sound like I'm playing favorites but if the Habs win tonight and they manage to secure home ice over the Tampa Bay Lightning for Round 1, I can't think of a better way to kick off the Stanley Cup Playoffs than a Saturday night game at Bell Centre.
