Staal delivers a a hard spear to Rust's groin.

It's one thing to get chippy in the National Hockey League, it's another to go looking for trouble and then delivering nothing but cheap shots when you find it.

Carolina Hurricanes forward Jordan Staal lost his cool on Thursday night and instead of dropping the gloves and dealing with his frustration the right away he instead opted to deliver a brutal cheap shot to Pittsburgh Penguin Bryan Rust.

Staal appeared to be the aggressor on this particular sequence, going after Rust after he had been dropped to the ice by another Penguin, but nonetheless Rust delivered the retaliatory crosschecks to Rust, who was understandably frustrated and then retaliated himself. Just when it looked like the two men might have a go of it, Staal disengaged and delivered a hard spear right to Rust's groin and a both teams quickly responded and a scrfum ensued.
