Did Letang lie about apologizing for his cheap shot?
New York Ranger Viktor Stalberg has effectively come forward and flat out stated that Penguins defenseman Kris Letang is a big fat liar.
Many fans where shocked when Letang received absolutely no discipline for what looked like a vicious slash to the face of Stalberg, and Stalberg himself, who lost three teeth as a result of that slash, probably wasn't too thrilled about either. Letang however said he apologized to Stalberg after the fact, here's what he said to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazetteto the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
“When he was skating by the bench I said sorry,” Letang said. “I didn’t know if I hit him or I hit Dominic (Moore) behind me. I got hit, and I went off balance and I was leaning forward. I just said sorry to the guy.”
A perfectly reasonable thing to do, and to say, unless of course it's all a big fat lie, and according to Stalberg's comments on Thursday, that's exactly what it is.
“No, that’s not (true). I haven’t heard from him. Obviously I couldn’t care less if I did or not,” said Stalberg as per Tribline.com
One of these men isn't telling the truth, and short of hooking them both up to a lie detector there's no way of knowing what is true or what is false, we'll let you draw your own conclusions.
