Stanley Cup champion Seidenberg calls it a career

Veteran defensemen Dennis Seidenberg had to face the facts: it is time to hang up the skates. 

According to Eishcokey News, the 38-year-old blue liner has retired from professional hockey after failing to play for an NHL team since the 2017-18 season. 

At the trade deadline back in February, Seidenberg has signed a pro-rated $700,000 contract with the New York Islanders. The team might have thought the veteran could bring some much needed experience to the roster, he who had played in 859 regular season games and 69 playoff contests during his career. He won a Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins in 2011.

However, Seidenberg didn’t get in on the action for the Islanders, who fell to the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round of the postseason. 

He has now called it a career. Happy retirement Seidenberg!
