Stanley Cup hero Devante Smith-Pelly gets another shot
Yes! Always loved this guy!
HockeyFeed
This just in, the Montreal Canadiens' AHL affiliate Laval Rocket have signed Stanley Cup champion Devante Smith-Pelly to a professional tryout (PTO) contract.
Check it out:
The 29 year old Smith-Pelly hasn't played in the NHL since 2018-19 with the Washington Capitals, the team he scored the Stanley Cup winning goal with in the spring of 2018.
Remember this?
This guy was an absolute heart and soul, run through a brick wall type of player for the Caps, but he just couldn't put together the consistency needed to stick in the NHL full-time. Since his time with the Caps he has bounced around a bit playing in both the AHL and the KHL while hoping to make his way back to the NHL.
Here's hoping that DSP can impress the Habs' brass with his PTO and earn himself a contract with the big club for the balance of the season.
