Star player stands up and lashes out at Bill Dally and Gary Bettman on the Olympics
Bill Daly and the NHL commissioner Gary Bettman addressed the Olympic situation as the general managers meeting is over. Nothing they said had a positive impact both on the players and the fans that want to see the best player in the world participate in the 2018 Olympic.
“Unless something changes we’re not going,” deputy commissioner Bill Daly told Canadian Press after the general managers meeting.
Those types of statements send a really negative image as the fans clearly see that the conflict is all about the money and not the love for the sport. Asked to comment on the situation, Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek lashed out at Bill Dally and Gary Bettman.
“It’s stupid and I find it absolutely ridiculous,” said Voracek
“The players want to go, I guarantee you that. I want to see how you are going to hold [Alex] Ovechkin back. The Russian players. Tell them they can’t go.”
“It’s the Olympics,” Voracek said. “It’s not just about business. You want to be part of the Olympics. And trust me, players want to go. And the players who don’t go get a week off to recharge their batteries. If you have bumps and bruises, you can heal and recover.
He is certainly not the last to speak out loud against this ridiculous conflict.
