Stars' Jamie Oleksiak will have an hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety after a controversial hit on Philadelphia Flyers' Chris VandeVelde.
In the third period of saturday's game, the Stars' defenseman appeared to hit VandeVelde with an elbow to the head as he cut through the offensive zone. Oleksiak didn't get a penalty on the play but got a little visit from Wayne Simmonds just as a reminder that even if the referees didn't saw it, the Flyers did.
Here's the hit:
We searched in recent history for something similar and we found this hit by Tanner Pearson who got him 2 regular season game suspension and the remainder of the pre-season (let's say one game in this case). So it would make sens for Oleksiak to receive a 3-game suspension. We'll keep you updated throughout the day.
