The Dallas Stars will face off against the Detroit Red Wings in a battle of two franchises that desperately need to turn their seasons around if they want any hope of making the playoffs.

The Stars will get one of their big offensive weapons back in the line up when captain Jamie Benn makes his return after missing the previous four games due to injury. During that four game absence the Stars went 1-3 and it's no surprise, in his 38 games played this season Benn has put up 34 points and is second in team scoring behind only Tyler Seguin.

The Red Wings also got a bit of good news on Thursday, with Helen St. James of the Detroit Free Press reporting that Tomas Tatar will continue to play through his injury, opting for surgery once the season is over. Tatar reportedly had "some pain" in his left shoulder and it's fair to wonder how that might impact his play going forward.
