Stars sign Gurianov to a curious contract

The Dallas Stars have signed forward Denis Gurianov to a one year contract worth $2.9 million.

The 25 year old forward put up 11 goals and 31 points in 73 games with the Stars last season and there was some real concern that he was considering leaving the Stars to return to the KHL to resume his career. Curiously though, the Stars have opted NOT to lock him up to a longer term deal, meaning that the threat of the KHL is still very much there. 

It'll be interesting to see how this next season goes for Gurianov under a new head coach and whether or not it effects his decision to remain in North America.
