Stars to sign Jake Oettinger to a “Jeremy Swayman like” contract
Swayman set the market after all!
UPDATE: It's official, Oettinger has signed an identical deal to the one Jeremy Swayman recently signed with the Boston Bruins.
According to a report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Dallas Stars and goaltender Jake Oettinger are closing in on an long term contract extension that carries a salary cap hit in the "Jeremy Swayman range."
From Friedman:
For the record, Swayman recently signed an eight year deal with a $8.25 million cap hit.
The 25 year old Oettinger has established himself as one of the best goaltenders in the NHL the past few seasons and has secured the Stars' top spot for years to come. He played 54 games last season, earning 35 wins along the way. He's off to a red hot start this season, going 3-0 with a 1.63 goals against average and a .948 save percentage.
Standby for official confirmation from the team and a firm dollar amount on this new deal.
