Stat: The Blackhawks have held a lead for just 45 seconds over the past three weeks

Welcome to Hell, Blackhawks fans.

It’s pretty safe the say that things haven’t exactly gone to plan for the Chicago Blackhawks since they fired longtime head coach Joel Quenneville last month. The former perennial Stanley Cup contenders are in the basement of the NHL standings and have just two wins under rookie head coach Jeremy Colliton.

In a stat that perfectly sums up the situation in Chicago this season though, Reddit user Bernden discovered that the team has held a lead for just 45 seconds since a 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on November 18th.

UPDATE: If that doesn’t sound bad well… it’s actually worse. Shave an additional four seconds off that lead.

Suffice it to say that these aren’t your parents Chicago Blackhawks anymore. The perennial Cup champions have absolutely fallen off a cliff the past 12 months and judging by this season’s results it’s not entirely due to goaltending. While last season’s disappointment could largely be chalked up to the absence of star goalie Corey Crawford, the Blackhawks simply don’t have that excuse this season and yet they have continued their downward trend into the basement of the NHL’s standings.
