The Detroit Red Wings announced last night that they have recalled Stephen Weiss from AHL Grand Rapids. Weiss performed well during his conditioning stint scoring twice for the Griffins over the course of the two games he played for the AHL affiliate. Weiss hasn't been the most popular player in Detroit, he has struggle with injuries since his five year $24.5 million dollar deal with the club. Weiss has appeared in just one game this season and has at times been healthy scratched by head coach Mike Babcock. However Weiss does have potential, former fourth overall pick in 2001 has shown signs of talent putting up two 60+ points seasons in his time with the Panthers. Red Wings fans are hoping he can return to form if healthy.
