Hockey fans (especially those north of the Canadian border) are familiar with social media maven and internet personality Steve Dangle, who has made a career delving into the podcast world as well as recording videos of himself giving live analysis during hockey games on Sportsnet, with the Toronto Maple Leafs being his key point of focus.

Earlier today, Dangle made a major announcement - he's leaving Sportsnet at the conclusion of this year's postseason and going to be focusing his full attention on SDPN, or the Steve Dangle Podcast Network, which is made up of eight podcasts and seven reaction shows, one for each of the seven Canadian NHL teams.

“I’ve really enjoyed working with so many incredible people and making stuff I’m so proud of,” Dangle, whose real name is Steve Glynn, said on Tuesday. “I’m not excited to leave Sportsnet as much as I am thrilled to continue to build what we’ve created with SDPN.”

“For me personally, I think it would have been wrong to leave in the middle of the season,” said Glynn. “I committed to doing the season. I wanted to do the season. I wanted to finish out the season.”

“I’ve made that decision to bet on myself. And by myself, I mean, us, I’m betting on us in SDPN, where I’m going to be working full-time."

“[People have asked me], if I like my job so much, why am I leaving? Because — and I’ve complained about this many times —  there’s only 24 hours in a day. And that has often annoyed me. And you know, apart from the obvious wanting to be good at having a family and stuff, I make a lot of stuff for Sportsnet. And I make a lot of stuff for SDPN… I just want to put all my energy into one thing.”

Best of luck in your future endeavors, Steve!
