Steve Dangle threatened by Mitch Marner’s head of security!

Reports emerged in the past week that Mitch Marner’s departure from the Toronto Maple Leafs was also highly motivated by fears for his family’s safety. After Toronto’s Game 7 loss to the Florida Panthers in May, Marner revealed how his home address was posted online, forcing him to hire private security for weeks.

It is believed that the scary situation ultimately influenced his decision to leave Toronto for the Vegas Golden Knights in a sign-and-trade, despite having only played for the Maple Leafs.

When asked about Marner’s statement on his jeopardized safety, Leafs general manager Brad Treliving addressed the situation, saying:

“In our business, your No. 1 priority is looking after your players, and I think we do a really good job of it,” Treliving said. “I don’t have any concerns that we don’t do everything humanly possible to make sure that they’re looked after, but in today’s world, you never take anything not seriously.

“We go through that every year, so guys know we’ve got a security team, we’ve got people whose jobs are to look after them and make sure they and their families are very comfortable,” Treliving said.

However, the comments from Marner only motivated Steve Dangle, a die-hard Maple Leafs fans and podcaster, to share how after he criticized Mitch Marner’s play in the 2021 first-round series against Montreal, he received a message from Marner’s head of personal security.

Dangle received the following message:

“You piece of shit. Shut the f*ck up about Marner! You know zero about the game you little puke. You’ll never get to speak to him again.”

This comes days after Marner’s former security guard went on a rant online to defend the star forward, defending him to those fans for calling out his character.

While it is never okay for fans to threaten or share personal information on famous people (or anyone at this point), it is clear that Marner’s security often used its power to attack people and Dangle is just one example of this.

After all, it may be a good thing for everyone involved that Marner is getting a fresh start in Vegas.
