The Detroit Red Wings have several pending free agents on their roster, with the two most notable being franchise cornerstones Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider.

Both players have completed their 3-year entry level contracts and are set to cash in, and there's no indication of any realistic chance of them playing elsewhere. During his media availability session earlier this afternoon, Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman provided the latest update on negotiations for the two.

"(Seider and Raymond's contracts) will go up considerably and they'll take a major portion of our (available) cap (space)," Yzerman said. "I have to plan for that. It comes down to terms and dollars (with the free agents)."

Obviously, both Seider and Raymond are due for major pay raises that will tie up a considerable portion of Detroit's projected offseason cap space of just under $30 million. But in addition to the young dynamic duo, veteran players like Patrick Kane, David Perron, and Shayne Gostisbehere are among the players due for new deals.

"We've talked with all of our free agents, not just Patrick, and explained our situation," Yzerman said. "We have a feel for what they're thinking and we all agreed to stay in touch. It's a busy week and we'll see if we can put some the pieces together."

However, for those wondering why deals for a pair of pivotal players haven't been hammered out yet, Yzerman explained that they'll get done in "due time".

"I'm just going to have to work around that," Yzerman said. "I can't force anything. It'll get done in due time. I'd prefer to have them done but at this stage, we'll work around it and make decisions along the way."
