Steven Stamkos suffers scary looking injury on Saturday.
You never like to see this.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have just been given quite the scare.
Lightning captain Steven Stamkos suffered an injury on Saturday night during a game against the Chicago Blackhawks and his response to the injury did not look promising. As Stamkos rose after falling to the ice, he appeared to attempt to put weight on his right leg before it seemed to give out completely under his weight.
Stamkos was able to make it off the ice under his own power, but this really did not look good. It has been announced that Stamkos will not return to the game tonight, but we have not yet received any update from the Lightning regarding the nature of the injury.
Here's the replay:
If you're looking for a silver lining, the injury here appears to be to Stamkos' left leg so it's not going to be related to the catastrophic injury he suffered when he broke the tibia in his right leg back in 2013.
