In case you missed it, the Vegas Golden Knights pulled off a BLOCKBUSTER of a deal just minutes ahead of the NHL’s 3pm ET trade deadline today, picking up winger Mark Stone from the Ottawa Senators
Heading to Ottawa are top prospect Erik Brannstrom, Oscar Lindberg and a 2nd round pick.
Stone has now reportedly signed an eight year deal with the Golden Knights, at least according to NHL insider Bob McKenzie.
Just moments after the trade went down, Stone went on TSN to discuss the trade and, while he reflected fondly on his time in Ottawa and lamented that he wasn’t able to remain with the team, he couldn’t help himself from taking a parting shot at notorious Sens owner Eugene Melnyk.
When asked what excites him most about heading to Vegas, Stone replied, “ownership’s commitment to winning.” Ouch… might want to apply a salve to that burn there, Mr. Melnyk.
