Ahead of the 2022-23 season start, the Vancouver Canucks let go of analytics analyst Rachel Doerrie. She lasted just over eight months in the organization. The reason behind her unexpected departure wasn’t never made clear. Fans were stunned because Doerrie had recently been added to Bruce Boudreau’s coaching staff.

The plot has now thicken as Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek now reports that Doerrie has retained Vancouver labour lawyer Peter Gall.

We can’t say what that means moving forward for the Canucks, though we can imagine they could enter a messy case in court.

But things might finally start to be clear for the fanbase.

Doerrie was hired by the Canucks back in January. She was the first of three women the Canucks added to their hockey operations department last winter, preceding Émilie Castonguay and Cammi Granato, who were hired shortly after her as assistant general managers.

She previously worked for the New Jersey Devils, beginning in 2017 at age 21. She worked as an analyst of player information and video with the Devils until April 2019.

There is no doubt that more and more will be revealed on the situation involving Doerrie in Vancouver will be uncovered now. Or so we hope…
