This just in, restricted free agent Ryan Strome has reportedly signed a two year contract with the New York Rangers worth $4.5 million per season.

Check it out:

The 27 year old forward put up a career high 18 goals and 59 points in 70 games with the Rangers last season. While Strome is a fine player, he can thank superstar Artemi Panarin for helping him earn this nice little paycheck. Strome played a large part of the 2019-20 season as the centerman between Panarin and star rookie Kaapo Kakko. Not a bad assignment. Not bad at all.

Interestingly enough though, at just two years Strome's new contract will expire at the same time as Mika Zibanejad meaning that the Rangers could lose their #1 and #2 centermen to free agency with no return. It'll be interesting to see how things play out over the next two seasons and whether or not the Rangers commit long term to either player.
