Martinook warns Vegas will have a tough battle ahead of them in Game 6.
The Carolina Hurricanes will get what will be their first chance at claiming this year's Stanley Cup championship on Sunday night when they face off against the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, and judging by their comments ahead of the game today they intend to bring it.
Prior to Game 6, Hurricanes forward Jordan Martinook was asked if he was trying to put the thought of hoisting the Stanley Cup out of his mind, but Martinook's response revealed that nothing could have been further from the truth. Instead Martinook revealed that he was using his lifelong dream of doing just that to fuel his performance tonight in Game 6.
"I think I've ran the thought of lifting that Cup over my head millions of times since I was a little kid," admitted Martinook on Sunday. "The fact that it's this close just makes you want it that much more and you're gonna do everything you can to try achieve it. Excited to get out there and put everything you got into it."
Martinook was the one making the comments but he wasn't the only one feeling the words he was speaking. Sitting alongside him was Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal who could be seen nodding along at several moments during Martinook's answer.
You can see the question and the answer from Martinook in the short clip below:
