Uh... maybe work on getting a save percentage over .900 first?
Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner is back in Edmonton for the opening of training camp this week where he met with the media following his first skate.
The 26 year old goaltender was asked about his goals for the upcoming season and he made it clear that he's setting his sights high.
"I want to set the bar high. I want to go to the Olympics, I wanna be a goalie for Team Canada," said Skinner. "I wanna be able to get back to the Stanley Cup and finish the job this year. I think that's everyone's goal in the NHL, if you ask them, is to win the Stanley Cup... but we're definitely wanting to finish the job here."

Look, there's no doubt that Skinner is a skilled NHL netminder. He's accomplished more than most goaltenders could ever hope to achieve, but let's not act like he doesn't have his shortcomings. The Oilers have have sub-par goaltending for years now and Skinner hasn't exactly changed that narrative. Last season he managed just a .896 save percentage, good for 40th league-wide. That's not going to cut it...
His goal of playing for Canada may seem ludicrous to some, but Canada doesn't exactly have the best depth at the position. Jordan Binnington has likely nailed down a spot thanks to his heroics at the 4 Nations Face-Off, but the competition is pretty wide open beyond him. Don't be surprised to see Skinner battling with the likes of Adin Hill, Sam Montembeault and Logan Thompson for a spot on Team Canada.
Having said all that, I'm concerned that Skinner is only setting himself up for failure. His focus should simply be on having a good start of the season so that he can silence the doubters nice and early.
