Leafs forward Max Domi shared a heartbreaking tribute on social media and the entire hockey community is mourning.
The hockey world is in shock following the sudden passing of Jake Patterson, a 31-year-old goaltender best known for his time with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. Patterson passed away in mid-October, leaving behind a lasting impact on those who knew him both on and off the ice.
During his three seasons with the Knights (2011–2014), Patterson helped lead the powerhouse team to back-to-back OHL championships, posting a 2.61 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage during the 2012–13 campaign. His calm presence in net and dedication to his teammates made him a respected figure in junior hockey circles.
Among those mourning his loss is Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi, a former teammate in London. Domi shared a touching tribute on Instagram, writing:
“Rest in peace brother ❤️. So many incredible memories with our team. You will be missed, Patty,”accompanied by the song /See You Again/ by Wiz Khalifa.

Patterson is remembered not only for his achievements on the ice but also for his kindness and devotion to his young son, Luca (3½ years old). A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support his family during this difficult time.
While the cause of death has not been confirmed, the focus remains on celebrating a life defined by heart, integrity, and passion.
Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and the wider hockey community.
