All of this because of a violent blindside collision in Game 5.
The Vegas Golden Knights could soon be without veteran defenseman Brayden McNabb after a frightening incident during Game 5 against the Anaheim Ducks.
The NHL officially announced on Wednesday that McNabb will have a hearing for interference following his devastating hit on Ducks forward Ryan Poehling.
The collision immediately sparked outrage across social media and among analysts watching the game. Poehling was nowhere near the puck when McNabb stepped into him with a heavy blindside hit that violently sent the Anaheim forward crashing into the glass.
Officials assessed McNabb a five-minute major penalty along with a game misconduct on the play.
What made the scene especially concerning was Poehling’s reaction afterward. The Ducks forward struggled badly while attempting to get back to his feet and appeared visibly dazed, with some viewers believing he briefly lost consciousness following the impact.
The hit has now become one of the biggest talking points of the series, with many fans and pundits calling for supplemental discipline even before the NHL announced the hearing.
Now the focus shifts to what kind of suspension could be coming for McNabb and whether the incident could dramatically alter the tone of an already heated Golden Knights–Ducks matchup.
