Swayman and Vasilevskiy speak out after their epic outdoor goalie fight.

The Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning put on an incredible show for the fans who showed up and tuned in for the latest of the National Hockey League's Stadium Series games. On Sunday night we were treated to a back and forth affair between these two teams, one that would eventually require a shootout to determine a winner.

It would be the Lightning who would eventually take it by a score of 6-5, but following the conclusion of the game very few fans were talking about the actual result. Instead much of the conversation surrounded an incident that occurred roughly midway through the first period, an epic outdoor goalie fight between Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman and Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy.

While you might think such an intense physical confrontation would breed animosity between the two men, it seems that nothing could be further from the truth. Following the game itself, Swayman and Vasilevskiy could be seen embracing one another and smiling as they talked about what must have been an incredible moment for them as well.

Following the game the two goaltenders all but confirmed this when they were both very complimentary of one another.

"I thought I was fighting the biggest, toughest goalie in the league," said Swayman when asked what he was thinking as he skated towards Vasilevskiy. "Probably retired after that."

Vasilevskiy made similar comments, praising Swayman for answering the challenge when he skated over to the red line.

"I just saw Sway was swinging the block a little bit... it was just a reflex to run to the red line and challenge him," said Vasilevskiy when asked why he challenged Swayman. "He accepted so big thanks to him, I thought he was great throughout the game in net and in the fight as well. Again big thanks to him for giving me my first one in the NHL."

It was an incredible moment for fans who were watching it all go down live and everyone can walk away feeling great about it thanks to the incredible show of mutual respect from both of the men involved.
