The Boston Bruins are in Buffalo to face the Sabres in a few minutes, however, Tage Thompson isn’t there to host them.

Minutes before puck drop, it was confirmed that Thompson was pulled from the Sabres’ lineup and would miss the game due to personal reasons.

On the season, the top center has put up nine goals and 19 points in 26 games. It’s not near what we expected from Thompson following an impressive 2022-23 breakout, in which he topped 37 goals in each of the past two campaigns in Buffalo, and he is coming off a year in which he posted career-best numbers with 47 goals and 94 points.

However, it is unknown how long Thompson will be out for and what the cause of behind his absence. It is unclear if he will be available for Saturday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Thompson did miss time previously this season when he was sidelined by a left arm injury. Back on Nov. 14. the Sabres’ leader in scoring the past two seasons was projected to miss 4-6 weeks after blocking a shot from defenseman Charlie McAvoy midway through the second period in a 5-2 loss to the Boston Bruins. But he ended up missing just nine games over three weeks.

The team is likely to provide some kind of update following tonight’s game against the visiting Bruins.

The Sabres (14-17-4) are currently sitting seventh in the Athletic division and face the leaders of that clan in the Bruins tonight.
