Tanev done for the season after yet another injury.

You could almost feel the Vancouver Canucks fan base having a collective brain aneurysm during last night's game.

The Canucks player the New Jersey Devils on Friday night in what should have been a relatively meaningless game fore both of the team's involved but instead turned out to be a rather catastrophic one for the Vancouver Canucks. There was not much on the line in this one with neither team really having a realistic shot at making the playoffs but that did not prevent some of the players on the ice from putting it all one the line.

One such player was Vancouver Canucks defenseman Chris Tanev who was likely thrilled to be back in the line up for just his second straight game since recovering from an ankle injury that cost him 11 games in the season. He's also likely a player the Canucks wished hadn't played so aggressively on Friday night considering the fact that he has been arguably their top defenseman at times but has been entirely unable to remain healthy throughout his NHL career.

Well Tanev once again found a way to break his seemingly frail body on Friday night where he once again suffered a serious injury. During the very first period of the contest Tanev, as part of his usually aggressive play style, sacrificed his body for his team by blocking a Devils shot off of his leg. It was unfortunately the end of the night for Tanev as he limped off the ice and was unable to return to action during the game. It's true that during a commercial break Tanev did return to the ice to test out his injured body, but he quickly went back to the locker room after that and he will remain there for the remainder of the 2018 - 2019 National Hockey League regular season.

Following the game Tanev was spotted with both crutches and a walking boot which led to rampant speculation about his health. That speculation was quickly put to rest however when Vancouver Canucks head coach Travis Green revealed that Tanev had suffered a season ending injury and would not be returning to the Canucks this season.
