Tavares gets booed during his introduction at NHL All-Star media day

The All-Star break is taking place in San Jose this weekend, and Sharks fans have a very good memory.

This summer when John Tavares was the most coveted free agent on the planet, Sharks general manager Doug Wilson was working very hard at landing the services of the star forward. While the Sharks were amongst the last candidates still competing for Tavares, he ended up signing a lucrative seven-year contract in Toronto.

And so, during the Atlantic Division’s player introductions, the Maple Leafs forward heard it from the local crowd. As the players from each team were introduced to the fans in attendance, Tavares received his fair share of boo’s from the fans. More boos than the ones expected for a player from a rival club...

Sharks fans didn’t forget about his choice to sign with Toronto, and we expect them to "make him pay" throughout all of the festivities this weekend.

To make things worse, one of his former teammates from the New York Islanders appeared to take a shot at his former captain in an interview during that same media day.

Forward Matthew Barzal was asked what the one difference he’s noticed from this team compared to last year’s and he appeared to take a little shot at Tavares.

“No one is treated any differently, it doesn’t matter who you are.”
To which TSN's Frank Seravelli replied: “Wow, sounds kinda of like a shot against John Tavares.”

There have been quite a few changes to the Islanders in the summer, so, it might have not been all intended for Tavares. However the Leafs forward better get ready for a weekend where he won't be the all-around favourite...
