After a disappointing, injury-riddled season last year New Jersey Devils star forward Taylor Hall is back to his usual self. The 2018 Hart Trophy winner who managed an incredible 39 goals and 93 points in 76 games during the 2017-18 season was derailed by a knee injury in 2018-19 that limited him to just 33 games. In those 33 contests though, Hall put up a remarkable 11 goals and 37 points.

This season, Hall has picked up right where he left off with two goals and 13 points in his team’s first 13 games. But there’s a problem…The 27-year-old is slated to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason should he fail to come to a contract extension with the Devils.

During the team’s Western Canadian trip, Hall’s agent Darren Ferris has come along in order to sit down and discuss with general manager Ray Shero. While we don’t know if the two men have already met, Hall said some interesting things to Edmonton Oilers insider Mark Spector. When asked if he had ruled out a return to Edmonton, this is what the star player had to say:

“Haven’t even thought about it. It’s too hard to rule out, or in, any teams at this point.”

Hall also mentions the rest of the league, which means he could be interested in testing his value on the free agency market. We all know how Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares cash in big time in the summer of 2018.

Earlier this week, Bob McKenzie took part in The Quiz on TSN and revealed that he thinks there is a 25% chance that Hall finishes the season with the Devils.

Maybe Hall agrees with him…

The Devils are in Edmonton tonight to face the Oilers.
