The return of National Hockey League stars to the 2026 Winter Olympic Games for the first time in over a decade has ramped up the excitement around the event and thankfully there was plenty of news to chew on coming out of multiple camps on Sunday.

The latest comes to us courtesy of NHL insider Pierre LeBrun who has shared what is the first look into what Team Canada's lineup could look like when the Men's Hockey Tournament officially gets underway later this week. Now to be clear, Canada won't play their first preliminary game until Thursday when they will face off against the Czech Republic, so this lineup could be subject to change over the next few days.

To no one's surprise the Canadian roster reads like something more akin to an All-Star lineup than an international roster, and it starts on what appeared to be the team's top line on Sunday. Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid centered that top line while flanked by San Jose Sharks phenom Macklin Celebrini and Washington Capitals enforcer Tom Wilson.

It continued from there with Colorado Avalanche star forward Nathan MacKinnon centering the team's second line while flanked by Florida Panthers star forward Brad Marchand and Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki.

Unbelievably the Canadiens third line center is Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and he was flanked by Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone and Vegas Golden Knights star forward Mitch Marner.

The team's fourth line features New York Islanders forward Bo Horvat flanked by Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brandon Hagel and Florida Panthers forward Sam Reinhardt.

The Canadians top pairing on defense is an all-Avalanche affair with Devon Toews and Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche making up that duo. Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrisey and St. Louis Blues defenseman Colton Parayko make up the team's second pairing while Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore and Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Travis Sanheim rounded out the third pairings.

Let me know what you think of these lineup decisions in the comments.
